Ljiljana Ban
Project manager & editor-in-chief alternativni mod/dom
Works at Children's Perspective because
I have worked for several NGOs in Croatia and internationally for the past 20 years. Although I grew and learned in every role I had, I was always looking for something that was just a little bit different. I didn't know exactly what, until I joined Children's Perspective and got a position that fits me like a glove. Here I can get the most out of myself and my projects. There is a lot of room here to be creative and discover how I can contribute to change. Because I have worked for a long time in the youth field as a social worker for various organizations, I know what it is like to have my feet in the clay. I can therefore easily level with both professionals and young people. Something more about me? I am sensitive, a little crazy and witty like most girls from the Balkans, but also organized, punctual, flexible, open-minded and adventurous like a true Dutchman. This somewhat bizarre mix allows me to work and be appreciated in both worlds.
Projects/tools/attention areas within KP:
- Project manager and editor of the magazine Alternativni MOD/DOM;
- Involved in development of the Toolbox;
- Regional representative of Children's Perspective. This includes making new contacts, implementing projects we support and starting collaborations with other organizations in the region.
- Currently very involved in two pilot projects: Participation (empowering youth councils) and Growth Diamond Project My stabile Circle.
Runs hot for
I gravitate toward working directly and interacting with colleagues and youth and the opportunity to support them in their growth. Creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth is what motivates me and what I want to do my best for every day. Finally, finding creative solutions to various problems makes me a happy and satisfied person and employee.
